Gareth Brindle
Solo Baritone

Gareth was born in Wigan Lancashire and started playing the euphonium at the early age of ten under the tuition of Harry Mather, Keith Hollinshead and Bill Millar. With great support from his parents Helen and Malcolm, he has worked his way up through the sections playing with such bands as Pemberton Old, Longridge and BT. Gareth has made quite a name for himself in the slow melody contests over the years winning most of the major competitions and has now progressed to adjudicating competitions.
He moved onto baritone in 2001 when he accepted the solo baritone position with the Williams Fairey Band. In 2004 Gareth was asked to join Black Dyke on Solo baritone, which he accepted and decided to make the journey over the Pennines to the Yorkshire Band.
In 2005 he achieved his personal "Hat-trick" winning the National Finals at the Royal Albert Hall.
Gareth's interest in music doesn't stop outside the band room. He works for a classical music distribution company handling well known companies such as Naxos, Chandos, BBC and Hyperion.
Gareth is married to Natalie also a brass band enthusiast who plays percussion. They have a daughter, Lauren, who was born in 2006.
