Benjamin Richeton leaves the band after four rewarding years, with European, British Open and National Championship successes, fantastic tours to New York, Japan, Switzerland and not forgetting The Glastonbury Festival!
Wedding Bells for Ben & Sumayah
On a glorious summers day last Saturday (July 8th) the Black Dyke Band were pleased to be in attendance at the wedding of Ben Wright and Sumayah Refaat. Ben plays 2nd Baritone with the band and Sumayah has been part of our merchandise team for several years. We wish the couple much joy and happiness.
New Addition to our Collection
A new addition to our Heritage Collection was greatly received from one of our ex-players Sandy Blair. Sandy played with the band in 1984-6 on Eb Tuba and began collecting antique tubas as a hobby.

After several months of intensive work the Black Dyke Band is pleased to announce the launch of our new dedicated website for the Black Dyke Band heritage collection. As early Sunday morning pick-me-ups go at Glastonbury, the sound of Black Dyke at full throttle belting out hits from David Bowie and Status Quo to John Barry, Kurt Weil and Simon Dobson takes some beating.
Yorkshire Champions - Again!
Black Dyke retains its Regional title and leads the Yorkshire Pageant in Huddersfield as City of Bradford join them, Brighouse & Rastrick and Hammonds Saltaire in London.
Yorkshire Area Contest - Open Rehearsal Morley Town Hall
Black Dyke Band will again present an open rehearsal at Morley Town Hall, this time for the Yorkshire Regional’s Test Piece ‘Pageantry’ by Herbert Howells.

Black Dyke Band announce the appointment of their ‘Young Composer in Residence’ for 2017. The successful candidate is Matthew Eden who is currently studying at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester under Dr. Laura Bowler.
