Connor Lennon

Having graduated from Huddersfield University, Connor studied trumpet under the guidance of Opera North’s Mike Woodhead and soprano cornet underneath Phillip McCann. He clearly impressed at University, as Phillip signed Connor at Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Band in 2014 on the Soprano Cornet chair. He enjoyed a successful 4 years with the Band, having personally also won the Brian Evans Memorial Trophy at the British Open in 2017. Connor then joined the Brighouse and Rastrick Band for a year before joining Black Dyke in 2019.

Yorkshire Champions - Again!

Black Dyke retains its Regional title and leads the Yorkshire Pageant in Huddersfield as City of Bradford join them, Brighouse & Rastrick and Hammonds Saltaire in London. THe band are extremely pleased about the result and also congratulate Siobhan Bates (Solo Horn) and Daniel Thomas (Principlal Euphonioum) on their individual prizes for outstanding performance.

Yorkshire Area Contest - Open Rehearsal Morley Town Hall

Black Dyke Band will again present an open rehearsal at Morley Town Hall, this time for the Yorkshire Regional’s Test Piece ‘Pageantry’ by Herbert Howells.

The open rehearsal will commence at 7.45pm on Friday 3rd March and will feature performances of

‘Rhapsody in Brass’ (Dean Goffin) - Horbury Victoria Band (Duncan Beckley)

‘Land of the Long White Cloud’ (Philip Sparke) - Drighlington Band (Duncan Beckley)
