After 6 great years, Black Dyke Band say farewell to Principal Tuba Gavin Saynor.

Music Director Professor Nicholas Childs commented… Gavin is a very gifted player with musical excellence at his core. Over the years he has inspired countless others and has been a great team player during his time at Black Dyke. Gavin’s commitment to the band has been extraordinary but sadly, it doesn’t make his 280-mile round trip to Queensbury any shorter.

Gavin commented…when you live 3 hours from the band room it’s challenging to say the least, with delicate management and continued support from Ffion my wife and my boys I have been able to enjoy just over 6 fantastic years. I have been extremely lucky to have played for the very best bands in the World over the past 30 years….but the Dyke experience has certainly been a highlight.

Black Dyke have also confirmed that Chris Hall, a graduate from Salford University and Pemberton Band has now joined the tuba section and his first official concert with Black Dyke will be at St. Wilfred’s Church, Harrogate on August 21st.
