Higham Trombone. An early trombone made by Joseph Higham and company of Strangeways, Manchester. Early in The Bands History it was reported in a Halifax newspaper that John Foster had ordered a complete set of top class instruments for The Black Dyke Mills Band. This trombone was made in the same factory and was recently donated to the heritage centre by a Queensbury resident whose family had connections with the Mill. The heritage team are still trying to establish the provenance of the instrument. Note the decorative engravings on many of the joints of the instrument.
