Framed photograph with oval card mount of Roy Newsome. Roy Newsome was Bandmaster (1966-1970) and resident conductor ( 1972-1977) for Black Dyke Mills Band. He worked alongside three professional conductors – Colonel C. H. Jaeger, Geoffrey Brand and Major Peter Parkes. These years were amongst the most successful ever enjoyed by Black Dyke Band, winning the National and the British Open Championships six times each – including ‘hat tricks’ at both, a ‘double’ and a ‘double-double’
