In the Leicester Pioneer a report of a concert in the Victoria Park by the band on July 28th 1914. ” In the evening concert, Mr Harold Pinches played cornet solos very cleverly. The Lost Chord in the afternoon and Furioso in the evening for which he was deservedly encored. He caused some amusement with the audience by his inimitable style of bowing his acknowledgements”. Jack Pinches is also noted as the principal cornet at the 1915 Belle Vue British Open contest, living in Queensbury at the White Horse Inn. He had two sons, Alwyn and Kenneth. Alwyn was in the winning band when they did the treble 1947,48, 49 and 51 and Kenneth who was in the winning performance of the 1949 and 51 National wins. Both were cornet players.
